1939 Halftone Print Villa House Di Diomedes Estate Pompeii Garden XGR9 VEN4 GoldsmithsThis is an original 1939 black and white halftone print of the Villa (House) di Diomedes. A wealthy estate excavated in the buried city of Pompeii. Belonging to a wealthy Roman family, this estate overlooked the Gulf of Naples and boasted an enormous colonnade lined garden (pictured center) with a pool in a cryptoporticus (covered gallery). It was here that the preserved remains of the master of the house and his eighteen guests, mainly women who were
