Lynde served as Attorney General in Wisconsin, as well as served as the President of the board of trustees of the Village of Milwaukee. Lynde was elected into the United States House of Representatives, the Wisconsin State Assembly, the State Legislature and the State Senate. He was also mayor of Milwaukee in 1860.
