This one I believe dates to the Meiji period (1868-1912) and features silver hinges on the back and locking mechanism on the front

I'm glad for that not be the case for the arrow here instead to remain forever ready but never fired, with its diagonal beautifully echoed by the feathers of his hat and counterpointed by the opposite diagonal of his quiver.
