John Hot of the 39th Georgia Infantry Co. G. This unit was ordered to Tennessee, then Mississippi where it was Brigade under T. H. Taylor in the department of Mississippi and east Louisiana. After fighting at Champion Hill, most of the unit, including Private John Hot, was captured at Vicksburg on July 4th, 1863 and exchanged and assigned to General Cummings Brigade, the
