This is a wonderful uniform that belonged to a member of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during the Second World War. The uniform consists of a blue hat, affectionately known as a "duck cap", and a black silk ribbon encircling its base. The ribbon served to identify the name of the ship to which the wearer was assigned. It was a common practice for RAN personnel to wear such ribbons to show their affiliation
