with super elegant lines--I really love how the round of the ball is echoed perfectly by the curved walls of the cage at top and bottom

and there is one tiny bit of something adhered to the surface of the lid

C. 1830s Ink Silhouette of Woman in Original Frame mod it would be especially greatThe frame (with pretty little acorn at top holding a hanging ring) tells me that this inked silhouette dates to the 1830s or so, though probably once held glass, which is long gone. Thus, there is wear and aging to the painting and paper, including some loss to what appears to have been gold painted details on her hair and bodice. I kind of like the effect, lending it some extra aura, but with her quite prominent nose still very clearly pronounced!
