and it's quite a lovely thing

My favorite Oaxacan alebrije are classic

dated 1883-84

how could I resist this little watercolor portrait of Marie Antoinette

A few tiny stains to the paper and two holes at left from where it was bound with string

Lovely 19th Century Academic Charcoal Drawing of a Dog studio pottery tray and it's quite a lovelyQuite a beautiful small drawing, charcoal I believe, clearly with its maker having been quite precise about the proportions of this dog's head! I like how two horizontal toning lines running from the left eye evoke a sense of this creature seeing both straight ahead and to the side at once, too! One heavy paper, initialed on reverse at upper right. 5" x 3 1 2" and in good antique condition.
