I love all the little bits of wood

Carved of wood and painted the perfect orange with white nd black spots

and would still certainly do the job of sweeping off the table or countertop--though I'd be much more inclined to hang it on the wall

maybe originally a spice tin but which has definitely served its announced purpose--I found it full of buttons and will include them if you'd like 'em

I love the gestural shape of the flat blade, with notch that maybe identifies it as a paring knife (?), but of course it's especially about the carved boot of a handle for me, much much handled and blackened from use (and maybe it got a bit too close to the fire once or twice, too.) Seems maybe earlier than later 19th c. American to me, including based on the shape of that boot, though I am no knife expert, and
