This is a fine example of a Civil War Union Officers Cap Device featuring a wreath surrounding a U. S.. This insignia has recently come to market after being found in an old family bible in a New England estate. The device is the typical style as used during the Civil War, and worn on all versions of headgear worn by Federal Officers during the war. The insignia is embroidered on a dark blue wool with fine bullion
