Gun maker JEAN DUBOIS worked in SEDAN in Northern France from 1633 to 1670. This pistol dates from the 1660's judging by the shape of the Butt Cap. The Lock is engraved with decorative scroll work including a very faint Maker's signature, but it is unmistakably that of Jean Dubois. The Flintlock hammer is most distinctive to this maker and an almost identical one is featured in THE FLINTLOCK by TORSTEN LENK, page 28,
