Description

The original glass is still in it

The smaller balances nicely on the back of the larger

There is an old hairline crack coming in from the edge of one side

so I'm no good identifying the type represented)

I do believe the student who drew these took great delight in the drawing

"This is to Remember Me When I am Ded", Peter's 19th C. Ink and Watercolor Double Portrait cream vase The original glass is stillThis is to remember me The grass is green The rose is red This is left When I am ded. Signed what looks like Peter S. Burgard; I have turned up a Peter Gurgard born in 1822 in Rhineland Palatinate, Germany, married in 1850 in Erie, NY, which seems about right to me, period wise and in terms of the costumes here but I don't know for certain.
