This knife style bayonet was based on the M3 fighting knife, and was introduced in 1944. This example is nicely marked U. S. M4 CONETTA on the blade side of the cross guard. This was manufactured by Conetta Manufacturing Company of Stamford, Conn., who produced bayonets for the M14 and M16
